Overnight Backpacking Camp
Created and led by Scotty Karas
Join us for a multi-day wilderness backpacking journey. This camp is nomadic, beginning at the Graveyard Fields Parking lot of the Blue Ridge Parkway, and ending 15 miles further north on the Parkway. Campers will hike along the Mountains to Sea Trail enjoying waterfalls, mountain views, and beautiful forested wilderness campsites. Our days will include nature awareness games, wild foraging, and naturalist skills while hiking from camp to camp. Campers will learn the essential camp skills of tarps and knots, fire building and tending, and cooking, all with leave-no-trace ethics. Songs and stories will be interwoven throughout the days' hike and into the evening around the campfire, creating a rich and unforgettable nature-connection immersion!
NOTE: Children must come prepared with personal camping gear including a backpack, sleeping bag and sleeping pad. A full camper packing list will be sent with registration. Loaner gear may be available, contact us for more info. Children must be able to hike 2-6 miles per day with weight. Forest Floor provides all food and group camping gear.
