Spring Scavenger Hunt

Outdoor & Online Zoom Camp

Ages 6-10   •   Saturday, May 9   •   1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

This all-new online class is a great way to get your kids outside exploring the natural world during social distancing.  The class consists of 3 parts:

  • Call #1:  A 45-60 minute Zoom Video call that will inspire and orient the kids to their upcoming outdoor adventure.
  • Outdoor Adventure:  Right after the 1st call ends the kids will have approx. 1 hour to go outside and attempt to complete the scavenger hunt.
  • Call #2:  Returning from their scavenger hunt, kids will break into small groups and share what they've discovered with instructors asking questions to deepen the learning and inspire further adventures.

Resources necessary to participate in this class:

  • Each student will need a computer, tablet, or cell phone which has a camera, mic, and is connected to the internet.  Parents are encouraged to install the Zoom app before class begins.
  • Close-to-home access to an outdoor space that contains natural features such as trees, shrubs, grass, etc.   A backyard would do fine, or a park just down the street.
  • Child must have permission to explore this outdoor space unattended for up to an hour during the class, or have an adult available to accompany them if need be.
  • Students may need a timepiece or parental help keeping track of time to arrive promptly for the Zoom calls.

Materials Needed:

  • Nature Journal (a blank piece of paper will do)
  • Pen or Pencil
  • Basket or Bag that can get dirty, to be used for gathering
  • Outdoor Clothing appropriate for the weather.  Just like our in-person camps, this will run Rain-or-Shine.
  • Optional:  Printer to print the Scavenger Hunt List before class starts
